Mark Vendl,
a geologist with the Field Services Section, Superfund Division,
Region 5, U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA),
received his B.S. (Geology, 1975) and his M.S. (Geology, 1978) from
the University of Illinois, Chicago. After working two years in the
oil industry, he joined the U.S. EPA in 1980 where he has been
involved in a wide variety of ground-water projects in the
Underground Injection Control and Superfund Programs. Since 1984, he
has been involved with the application of environmental geophysics
for site characterization, especially ground-penetrating radar.
